"Ordinary Love": Movie Review
While depicting the remarkable love between two ordinary people, "Ordinary Love" struggles with finding its distinctive identity. Even though the characters relish in its conventional filmmaking, the final product never blossoms beyond its initial cliches.
As a wonderfully tender relationship between a married couple falls on hard times, their strong connection is put to the test.
Since "Ordinary Love" relies on emotionally manipulating the senses with its overbearing sentimentality, not a single thing in the film feels relatively fleshed out. With the superb chemistry between Liam Neeson and Lesley Manville being the focal point, the tendency to ignore all other factors becomes increasingly blatant. That being said, the natural state of its acting performances are splendid, due to Neeson and Manville's captivating roles.
Thanks to its unessential topical theme, "Ordinary Love" becomes sadly disposable. Pitch perfect charm, and a light sprinkle of wisdom can't prevent its steady dose of unoriginality.
