"Onward": Movie Review
Pixar's new film "Onward" delivers on its heartwarming premise, and creative subject matter, at an unexpected rate. Its fairytale narrative doesn't always land, but its appealing intentions are a pleasure to watch unfold.
Two brothers (Tom Holland, Chris Pratt) in a modern fantasy land, go on a 24-hour adventure to bring their father back to life.
"Onward" falls into familiar Pixar territory, but it's difficult tonal balances are wholly unique to this specific film. Death and family judgment plays a big role, and it couldn't come at a more opportune time. With our lives being forced into quarantine, "Onward" will give most viewers time to self-reflect on their own family's various dynamics.
Even with its predictable familiarity and weak world-building, "Onward" is a visually sentimental treat and a welcome addition to the Pixar catalog.
