"Les Misérables" (2020): One Of The Biggest Winners Of 2020

"Les Misérables"(2020): Movie Review

Systematic and economic oppression permeates the senses in Ladj Ly's debut film, "Les Misérables". Ly uncovers the formidable truth of our modern times with a poets poise while spreading the courage to expose the roots of inner-city corruption and hypocrisy.

Within the beautiful city of Paris, a minority portion of drugs, gangs, and crooked cops rule. As a newly appointed officer (Damien Bonnard) is introduced to his squad, his eyes are opened to the slums of his city.

Excruciatingly modern in its capacity to highlight the roots of violent revolutions, "Les Misérables" is a strenuous task. Its ideological perspective is thrilling, and its characters realistically represent the surrounding locale. From the fine acting, and perspicacious political banter, "Les Misérables" demands you to pay attention.

There's a consequential weight to each scene, setting it apart from most thrillers of this ilk. No doubt, a winner of 2020, and a film that ought to be thoughtfully analyzed for years to come.
