"Harley Quinn: Birds Of Prey": The First Dreadful Film Of 2020

"Harley Quinn: Birds Of Prey": Movie Review

Apart from the goofy antics and outrageously unpleasant clown makeup, Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) is full of exciting complexity. However, "Harley Quinn: Birds Of Prey" is a failure on almost every level and is the first dreadful film of 2020.

Gotham City is getting overrun by Black Mask, (Ewan McGregor) a flamboyant criminal who is in pursuit of young girl whose stolen his prized possession.

There isn't one redeeming quality in this torturous train wreck. The acting is embarrassing all across the board including the likes of Rosie Perez and Ewan McGregor who have never been worse. It doesn't help that Cathy Yan's questionable directing and Christina Hodson's painfully dull script ("Bumblebee") are at odds with one another's vision. The clear lack of a structural tone narrows down its ignorant storyline and moral lesson to being nearly incomprehensible.

Add on unsightly CGI, and delirious editing, you have a film that demonstrates tedium at the highest degree. Beyond the delightful Hyena named "Bruce" (a nice wink and a nod), DC is in a current state of shambles.
