"Long Shot": One Of The Most Entertaining Romantic Comedies In Years

"Long Shot": Movie Review

The new film, "Long Shot", starring the love duo of Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen happens to be one of the most entertaining romantic comedies in years. It's lights out chemistry, between Theron and Rogen is incredibly delightful to watch, and a splendid supporting cast makes the film a comedy for the ages.

Fred Flarsky (Seth Rogen), a potty mouthed journalist, reunites with his old crush, Charlotte Field (Charlize Theron), who also happens to be running for president. The reuniting between them, gives Flarsky a job as her speech writer, but also a rekindling of that childhood crush, coming to fruition.

Supporting cast such as Andy Serkis, Alexander SkarsgĂ„rd, Bob Odenkirk, and O'Shea Jackson Jr. are tremendously entertaining. Which is an indication of very strong writing by Dan Sterling and Liz Hannah, and a fine directing job by Jonathan Levine. It's also a project that's as timely as ever, but also politically balanced and nuanced in it's portrayal of modern day politics.

As mentioned before, the chemistry between Rogen and Theron is off the charts. Both madly falling in love with each other over its 120 minute run time is a charming affair from start to finish. Both performances are laugh out loud hilarious and tender.

This is an old fashioned tale of two people falling in love. It's ending is soft and some of the gags don't entirely work, but it's intentions are always bittersweet. "Long Shot" is not groundbreaking, but it is refreshingly honest and real.
