"Us": Jordan Peele's New Genre Of Horror

"Us": Movie Review

"Us" is a transcendent horror experience. Jordan Peele's second feature film "Us" is a new genre of horror. It's implications don't always stick, but the execution is genius.

A family of four retreat for a vacation in Santa Cruz, where they meet their doppelgangers.

There's a constant and consistent brilliance to "Us". It's metaphorical meaning isn't as strong as "Get Out" but it's voice is as loud and as strong as ever. A radical new way of perceiving the horror genre is front and center.

The acting from Lupita Nyong'o is off the charts, playing two parts with opposite motivations. It's remarkably well done, along with the rest of the family, including Winston Duke, Evan Alex, and Shahadi Wright Joseph are perfectly cast.

Roaring ocean waves, and thunderous lightning strikes light the screen up with a visual prowess. Peele has taken his next step as a visual filmmaker, as "Us" is just as wonderfully creative as "Get Out".

The creativity, ranging from the music to the premise is a tremendous accomplishment. There is a tedium at times, but "Us" is a journey worth taking, and talking about once the credits roll.
