"Vice": Christian Bale Delivers A Performance For The Ages

"Vice": Movie Review

Christian Bale transforms into Cheney like no other actor could. Bale has delivered a performance for the ages.

The occasionally vicious, but always entertaining "Vice", delivers a film about Dick Cheney's rise to being Vice President under George W. Bush.

Bales performance of Cheney is surreal and the UK native delivers gold. His counterparts however, Amy Adams as Lynne Cheney, Sam Rockwell as Bush do not hold a candle to Bale's portrayal. And others like Tyler Perry as Powell and Steve Carell as Rumsfeld border on parody. But it's nonetheless entertaining and paints a fair portrayal, for the most part.

The last third of the film however falls short, and leans on low blows and fabrications to push an agenda. If you're looking for something completely factual, "Vice" does not fill that desire.

But director Adam McKay ("The Big Short") has made a ferociously entertaining, and mildly fair political drama, with a lead performance by Bale that left me speechless.
