"The Predator": A Bad Film That Could've Been Way Worse.

"The Predator": Movie Review

"The Predator" directed by Shane Black, (who co-starred in the 1980's predator film and also directed "Lethal Weapon") is a mess.  Fortunately, some comedic moments, and a Sci-Fi legend at its center, "The Predator" could've been way worse.

It starts out with a boy named Rory, (Jacob Tremblay) who receives a package from his father ( Boyd Holbrook), that contains Predator technology. From there it evolves into an energetic, off the wall buddy movie that fails to hit the mark the majority of the time.

It's definitely a let down, but "The Predator" is a bad film, with a lot of entertaining elements. The camaraderie of the ex soldiers including actors like Thomas Jane and Keegan Michael Key are nothing short of hilarious. It's campy, and fun but it doesn't last long enough, as the film veers in so many different directions.

It explores autism, PTSD, family dynamics and relationships in such an odd way, that it seems like "The Predator" needed to cook for another year or two. Director Shane Black is much better then whats on display here, and that's unfortunate as this franchise has been run into the ground way too many times.

It's not the worst film I've seen this year, but it's one of the more disappointing affairs of the year. The acting is fine, and there are some hilarious moments sprinkled in. But whatever hope you had, the last 40 minutes will destroy those hopes entirely.

Hopefully one day we will get the Predator film we deserve.
