"Searching": A Surreal And Heartbreaking Experience

"Searching": Movie Review

"Searching" will make you cry, cheer, and quiver in fear. It's a memorable and often uplifting experience, with a wonderful sense of mystery to boot.

David Kim (John Cho) discovers that his daughter (Michelle La) is missing and plans to find her through using various pieces of technology that could lead to her discovery.

The whole entire film is filmed through web cams, TV reports, and other various pieces of technology. This has been done before in the 2014 horror film "Unfriended", but in "Searching" its used much more intuitively. Theres a reason its being done, and it's shown through various story points that will make you reach for the nearest tissue.

It's not without its weaknesses though. Sometimes throughout, the filming becomes a bit gimmicky, ruining some of the more intense moments. Even some of the emotional scenes lose some steam due to it's filming, but this is a rare occurrence.

"Searching" is a superb film. It's music, plot, and emotional resonance are just the icing on a very large cake. The twists and turns are a throwback to M. Night Shyamalan's earlier work, and the plot is Hitchcock at his best. It's a must see, even with some of it's gimmicks.
