The Rider: Movie Review
"A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work"-Colin Powell.
"The Rider" is about dreams, and the overcoming challenges that come along with it. Using all the real life individuals as actors in the film, "The Rider" is definitely unique, but stumbles somewhat along the way.
Located in South Dakota, Brady, a rodeo rider has an almost fatal accident, as he tries to come to terms with what it means for the rest of his life.
Brady's performance is flat out exceptional. For an amateur actor, it's truly remarkable, and an achievement worth attention. The other performances are somewhat bland, which comes with the territory when using unprofessional actors. Unfortantely there isn't any type of emotional connection to any of the supporting cast, other than the tragic and heartbreaking story of Lane Scott, which is worth experiencing, not spoiling.
The cinematography is stunning, the music is sweeping, and the stunning performance by Brady is just short of masterful. But "The Rider's" emotional resonance doesn't always stick its landing, making the film a good one, not an amazing one.
