You Were Never Really Here: Movie Review
This is a film that challenges, confuses, and is also surprisingly charming. "You Were Never Really Here" is a piece of life, that induces it's artistic expression, relating to the incosequentialism of our existence.
Joaquin Pheonix is outstanding as as Jon, an offbeat hitman, trying to fight back for his own humanity. Pheonix inhabits his character, and utilizes his dialogue to try to fight back for what is moral. The performances are subtle, but invigorating in its most simplest of forms.

The plot details sex trafficking and the ghosts that have haunted our past. It's nightmarish structure is reminisent of director Lynn Ramsey's previous film, "We Need To Talk About Kevin". Ramsey has a knack of making the adventures of everyday life, as fucked up as possible, and she knocks it out of the park here.
It's not for everyone, and most will be perplexed of what they just witnessed. But the music, cinematography, and performances are all hypnotically engaging. It's one of the best films of 2018.
